SANTA BARBARA CHANNEL Santa Barbara Channel offers 50 miles of unparalleled scenery. It is bordered by the Channel Islands National Park to the south and the ‘American riviera’ to the north. In August, the venue typically provides a sea breeze of 8-12 knots from the WSW, but has a variety of wind conditions and average temperatures of 66-71 degrees.
The city of Santa Barbara is one of Southern California’s top family vacation destinations, and offers a wide range of options for racers and their ‘shore crew’.
SANTA BARBARA YACHT CLUB
One of the oldest clubs on the west coast, Santa Barbara Yacht Club has served racing sailors since 1872. Its current location overlooks the mountains, beaches, and harbor of Santa Barbara. The club supports a wide range of one design, dinghy, and rating rule classes for all ages. The members welcome all regatta participants to enjoy SBYC, the city, and the excellent sailing conditions of Santa Barbara.

Weather at the Venue
The average temperature in Santa Barbara in early to mid November is between 62 and 75 degrees while the water temperature is between 60 and 62 degrees on average. It is highly atypical to need a dry suit in Santa Barbara. Wind is typically 6-15 knots from the WSW in November.
Parking
Parking is restricted to certain areas. Below is a map that shows where you can park your trailers, boats, and cars. There is public parking in white stalls in the public harbor lot as shown in ‘Attachment H – Harbor Map’. All day parking costs $12 per vehicle. For those who are willing to walk, there is limited free parking in the Pershing Park parking lot (on the west side of Castillo Street, just north of the Pershing Park baseball diamonds). Please keep the roadways clear as other launch ramp visitors and the harbor patrol may be coming through at several points. Additionally, please only launch using the middle and east most ramp. Support boats may dock at the SBYC End Tie 'D' located in marina 1 as shown on Attachment H. There is limited dock space and it is first come first serve.
Boat Dry Storage & Trailer Storage
Boats will be set up in the north most row of the harbor launch ramp area (closest row to Cabrillo Blvd and furthest from launch ramps) as shown in Attachment A - On Shore Staging. After boats have been launched, dollies will be stored in this same location. A hose is available next to the launch ramp for rinse down at the end of each day that will be operated by a single volunteer.
Yacht Club Facilities
The Yacht Club facilities are not open to visitors or reciprocal yacht club members at this time due to Covid-19.
Restrooms / Showers
Public restrooms are also available adjacent to the harbor public parking lot near the launch ramp. The Marina restrooms are accessible with a marina gate card. Most of the Marina restroom facilities have showers.
On Shore Regatta headquarters
There will be no 'on shore' regatta Headquarters as everything will be done online. There will be parking monitors that can answer questions on the morning of each day of racing. All sailors need to sign in online each day that they plan on racing.
Spectating
The racing area will be held to the south of the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and the harbor break wall. Racing will be visible from the breakwall or on the beach in front of the SBYC.
Local Health Care
